BBQ sauce and dry rub mix

With the arrival of the first day of summer, I thought I would share my BBQ sauce recipe. It is delicious on pulled pork and baby back ribs! I found an amazing dry rub mix on The Yummy Life  http://www.theyummylife.com/ that I use to season my barbecue sauce. Here is the dry rub mix recipe from The Yummy Life.

Dry rub recipe:

  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar (spread out on a baking sheet and let it dry out for 2 hours)
  • 1/4 cup seasoned salt
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 1/4 cup smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp celery salt
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp ground mace
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves

Use a food processor and pulse until well mixed. Store the dry rub in an air tight container. It makes a ton of season but stores well for future use.

My BBQ sauce recipe:

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Dash Tabasco
  • 1 tbsp dry rub mix

Mix and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.  I don’t recommend storing it for longer than 2 days to ensure a good quality sauce. Brush it on ribs, chicken or mix in pulled pork for delicious BBQ!

Enjoy! XO,

Stacey
