Cake Boss Tarelle Cookies

The Cake Boss posted this recipe on their Facebook page a few weeks back so I thought I’d give it a shot. These Italian vanilla cookies are delicious. Here’s the recipe from their Facebook page.

  • 1 1/4 cup Shortening
  • 1 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 2 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 1/4 cup Pastry Flour
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 2 tbsp water

In a stand mixer with the paddle attachment, mix together the shortening, sugar, vanilla, eggs and baking powder. With the mixer running, add the milk and mix well. Add the flours and mix for 3 – 5 minutes. Let the dough rest for five minutes. Roll the dough into logs and cut into 1/2″ pieces. Roll the pieces into balls, roll the balls into logs and twist to form a circle pinching the ends together. Bake the cookies for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Mix together the powdered sugar and water until icing forms and lumps are gone. Dip the top of the cooled cookies into the icing and place on a bakers rack and let dry for 30 minutes to an hour.

*Note: If you can’t find pastry flour, 3/8 cup all-purpose flour and 5/8 cup cake flour for every cup will be a pretty close substitute for pastry flour.

Let me know what you think of the recipe after you bake these yummy cookies!
