Powdered Donut Holes

There is nothing better than homemade donuts! These donut holes are delicious and almost as good as Dunkin’ Donuts! Definitely a diet killer but so worth it. It is time consuming but a heck of a lot cheaper than buying them. 


  • 1/4 oz package active Dry Yeast
  • 2 tbsp Water, warmed (100 degrees)
  • 3/4 cup Milk, warmed (30 sec in microwave)
  • 2 1/2 tbsp Salted Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 3/4 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 3 cups Vegetable Oil
  • 8 oz Powdered Sugar


In a stand mixer with the whisk attachment, dissolve the yeast in the warm water for about 5 minutes until it foams. Add the milk, butter, egg, sugar and salt and blend until smooth. Add half of the flour and mix for 30 seconds. Change the wisk attachment out to the dough hook and add the remaining flour kneading the dough until smooth. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in a warm, dry place until it doubles in size (1 hour). Roll the dough out onto a heavily floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness. Punch the dough with a 1 inch circle cookie cutter. Place the donut holes on a cookie sheet, cover with plastic wrap and let it double in size (30 – 45 minutes). Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat to about 300 degrees. When the dough is placed in the oil it should bubble quickly. Fry each donut hole for 30 seconds per side. Place the donut holes on paper towels to cool for about 5 minutes. Sprinkle the donut holes with powdered sugar.
