Valentine's Day is a special occasion that deserves some lovely decorations, but I didn't want to spend hours lugging out a ton of decorations. Instead, I decided to focus on creating a big impact with simple decorations. The fireplace is the focal point of our living room, and we spend a lot of time there. So, I thought it would be the perfect spot to showcase my rose hearts. I used a new 3M hook that's perfect for hanging lightweight items from the mantle, and it worked like a charm! I first discovered these hooks when I used them to hang garland for my daughter's birthday party and fell in love with their versatility. Of course, I changed my pillow covers to suit the occasion. It's important to keep in mind other holidays when you purchase throw pillows or covers, as it saves you money in the long run. For example, I coordinate the red pillow covers I use for both Christmas and Valentine's Day, and the pink and white stripe covers I use for both Valentine's Day and Easter. In the kitchen, I added some simple towels that tie in nicely with the Valentine's Day theme. These small touches can make a big difference in the overall feel of your home during this festive time of the year. Lastly, for the dining room table, I use my heart plates I found at Potterybarn years ago. I use the same white dinner plate and charger for every season, and just change out the placemat, napkin, and salad plate to suit the occasion. I achieved a beautiful Valentine's Day look in my home by focusing on a few simple yet impactful decorations. By changing out a few key items, I was able to create a festive atmosphere throughout the house without going overboard with decorations.
